200 participate in Pedal for NCC open Cycle Race 25 sept 2011


National Cadet Crops Group Headquarter Srinagar collaboration Cycling Association of j&Kfor its first time in its history conducted open cycle race Pedal for Race on 25th Sept 2011. Col. D.S. Govaya, SM NCC Group Headquarter Sgr. flagged off first Pedal for NCC open cycle race 2011 at Bakshi Stadium to Oberoy gate and back here on Sunday. Cyclists covered 14 kms distance.
The Race was organized by NCC Group Headquarter Srinagar under its Programmed in which more than 200 Cyclists, besides a large number of NCC cadets including senior officers of the organization witness.
The flag off ceremony of race started at 6.50 AM at Bakshi Stadium near Iqbal Park in which Cyclists from different districts of the Valley had thronged the venue for the participation. All along the route huge number of spectators and onlookers witnessed the Pedal for NCC along its route from Bakshi Stadium to Oberoy Gate Via, lalded hospital, Zero bridge, TRC crossing, Snonawar, Oberoy Police Golf Course, Nehru park, Dalgate, TRC crossing, Bakshi stadium, On the conclusion of Race, the winners of were awarded with cash prizes and the participants with certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, the C. O J&K Ist BN NCC Col. Pradeep Singh thanked the participants for their participation in the event and said that the interest of the people has encouraged NCC organization to conduct such events.
He said the NCC will organize Run for Fun on 28 sept 2011 from same route the people particularly the youth have shown much interest of their participation in these events. He said organizing such sports events aiming to channelize the energy of the youth towards right direction and hone their talent.
The organization will continue to make its efforts to inspire the youth of the state towards sports by organizing such events in future,
Col. D.S. Govaya, SM Ncc Group Headquarter Srinagar distributed Cash prizes among the winners which include Gulam Rasool Kawa got first place Rs-5000/- Anzil Mukhtar secured Second place Rs-3000/- Mudasir Ahmad Dar got third place Rs-2000/- Amir Ashad, HilalAhmad, Ishfaq Ahmad, Ajaz, Akber, Yawar, Tariq Khan, Secured fourth to tenth places awarded Rs-1000/- each.
Mr. Gh. Rasool 80 years was the the eldest Cyclist to participate, Kashmir police, Traffic police Medical department, Cycling Association Of J&K helped NCC in successful conduct of the event.
Among others the function and the Race was attended by Col. D.S. Govaya, SM NCC Group Headquarter C.O JK Ist Bn NCC Col. Pradeep Singh and Maqsood Ahmad President Cycling Association of J&K, Mushtaq Ahmad Vice President CAJK, all other senior NNC officers
